In Memories Lost and Found, Laura Blatt showers us with delightfully accessible verse. The collection begins with memories of a dear sister lost to illness, her mother’s “secret ingredients,” and portraits of friends. Other poems voice non-distinct fearful undercurrents. While never fully named, they draw the author to the antidote—the deep woods and flora of Northern California and beyond. It is here the book soars. Blatt, an avid hiker, inspires us “…to follow a white-tailed kite/ …vast blue space before her/ no questions, no ancient pain/ only a call to fly/ high above tall proud pines.”
